We recently gave our office and powder room a fresh new look, and while we were in the middle of that process, we decided—why stop there? Our living room had been feeling a bit… off. We couldn’t quite put our finger on it, but it lacked that warm, cozy vibe we wanted for the space where we spend so much time. Since our home has an open floor plan, the living room is a major focal point, and after 8 years (I can’t believe it’s been that long!), it was time for a change.
People talk about the “seven-year itch,” and we definitely felt it when it came to our home’s aesthetics. At one point, we considered a full renovation—redoing the fireplace, getting new furniture, and completely overhauling the space. We estimated it would cost at least $20,000!
Instead of jumping into a major remodel, we took a step back and decided to start small. Since we were already painting other rooms, we focused on updating the accent wall in the living room and swapping out some décor. And wow—what a transformation!
With just a little paint and a few decor changes (many of which I simply relocated from other rooms), we completely changed the look and feel of the space. It finally has that inviting, cozy atmosphere we were craving—all for under $300!
This experience was a great reminder that sometimes, a full renovation isn’t necessary to fall back in love with a space. Small, intentional updates can make a huge impact while saving time and money. If you’ve been feeling the itch to revamp a room in your home, start with the simple things—you might be surprised at how much of a difference they make!
