I have made considerable efforts to adopt a healthier lifestyle and create a clean living environment for myself and my family. It has been a journey of discovering what works best for us and making gradual changes. Along with focusing on healthy eating, I have also become mindful of the environment in which we live and raise our children. This shift in mindset occurred after getting married and starting a family. I have sought advice from other like-minded moms and conducted extensive research to make informed choices. Transforming our living space to eliminate toxins and embrace healthier alternatives has been a gradual process spanning over 8 years. I’ve taken a methodical approach, tackling one room at a time and making thoughtful swaps to create a healthier living environment for my family.

In this blog post, I want to break it down and first take a look at my cleaning products and the process and reasons behind switching them out. I found many of the cleaning products that I had to be very irritating to the skin and aggravated by allergies and asthma. I remember there was an instance a couple of years before my kids were born and I was cleaning my house and I recall feeling unwell for a couple of days afterwards due to how bad my asthma was after cleaning. I just knew that I had to find different products to use in my house to be safe for my family. It has been a trial and error type of process to find out what works best for our home. I have tried many product brands from all the stores, but I think I have really found my favorite in using Young Living products, which includes their essential oils and Thieves cleaner. The smell is light and refreshing and makes my house smell so clean. What is so nice about the Thieves cleaner is that it is a concentrate and one bottle goes a long way. I love to add it to spray bottles and use it as all purpose cleaner in my kitchen or bathrooms. I also love to make homemade soft scrub for tubs and sinks. It feels great to be able to clean my home, knowing it is clean and all the products I am using are safe for me and my family.

In conjunction with using Young Living and Thieves products, I also love using Norwex cleaning cloths. Norwex prides themselves in being a clean company that helps to reduce waste by getting rid of paper towels and replacing with Norwex cloths. I have found myself to use less paper towels and have replaced with the Norwex cloths to clean and wipe up around my house. I love that I can have my kids help with cleaning because I am using clean products and I don’t have to worry about the harmful chemicals around my family. Feel free to reach out to me about Young Living or Norwex products if you have questions that I can answer or help with.

I know many people can become overwhelmed by trying to switch out products in their home. It has taken me going on 8 years to really find out what works in our home. If you are wanting to change out your cleaning products but it seems daunting, just take one room at a time and just pick one area to work on at a time. Just know that it may be a slow process, but a decision to improve your home and make it cleaner for you and your family is so wonderful and I commend you for it. Trust the process and it will be great.
